Zombie Nutcracker - a holiday tribute to Tim Burton

This is my holiday tribute to Tim Burton and 'Nightmare before Christmas".

In the special holiday version of Disneyland's "Haunted Mansion" ride, there is a fun Zombie Nutcracker sitting near Madame Leota's head.  Here is a link to a fan photo of the original in the ride:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/80651237@N00/2218522710

A bit of Disney trivia:  the first time the ride opened with the 'Nightmare' theme, the name "Timmy B." was listed on the naughty/nice list in the ride.

This is my version

How I did it:

1.  Purchase an unpainted nutcracker from a craft store.  This is an ornament that came from Michael's.

2.  Remove all the existing fur.  Sand well to remove any glue residue.

3.  Paint the entire figure solid red.  For parts that will remain red, paint another coat (or two).

4.  Paint in all the other details with black, white and puke green paint.  Paint two or three layers of the black and green solid parts.  Be sure to allow to dry well between coats.

5.  Spray the entire figure with a few coats of clear gloss.

6.  The eyes... well, you have to dig deep in your craft stash.  Use anything sparkly or shiny that you can find (beads, glitter, sequins, etc).  In this case, I used bits of 'glitter foam' from one of my daughter's school projects.  Don't tell her that I nipped two small pieces off to make these eyes.  Seriously, they were really small. She didn't even notice those two missing corners.

7.  Re-paste the fur.  Alternately, use any other fur that you might have on hand, maybe from making a Pokemon Halloween Costume.
